Toby Lawless

Senior Director, OBB Sound

Toby Lawless is Senior Director, OBB Sound. Originally hailing from Seattle, Toby was a semi-successful child actor (Competitive Improv, Bill Nye the Science guy, Northern Exposure, many local commercials) before spending time in Europe and Central America as a young adult. He produced for Middlebury College Radio where he graduated with a degree in International Studies - Spanish Culture and Literature (which he quickly leveraged into a stretch as an improviser and sketch comedian starting in NY and later in LA).


Toby worked for a period in casting partnering with some of the world's biggest brands (Meta, Nike, Apple, Amazon, Ford) before moving into commercial music and sound. As a podcast producer he produced the original scripted audio THE IMPERFECTION which was nominated for an Ambie for Podcast of the Year in 2022 and selected for the Tribeca Film Festival's inaugural podcast category in 2021 and now in development for TV. Other credits include producer for BATMAN UNBURIED, Warner Bros and Spotify's first D.C property written by David Goyer's Phantom Four (Winston Duke, Gina Rodriguez, Hasan Minhaj, Jason Isaacs, Lance Reddick), producer & casting for Shondaland's first foray into scripted audio with the series #MATTER (Amin Joseph, Snoop Dogg, Haley Joel Osment, Steve Harris, Pooch Hall). He also produced Blumhouse and Crypt Tv's first scripted podcast MORDEO starring J. Alphonse Nicholson released by iHeart Radio as well as DUST's CHRYSALIS (Corey Hawkins with Toni Collette, Shae Wigham, Lance Reddick) which debuted at #1 on Apple Podcasts and garnered an Ambie nomination for best performance for Corey Hawkins. Toby produced Season 3 of the Ambie award winning series BLOOD TIES for Wondery.


As an audio producer Toby has direct experience in leadership and creative management, excelling in the forefront of production and development. He has proven success in business and organizational development, staff work distribution and workflow efficiencies. Toby collaborates with an open door policy and has a deep focus on creative quality, innovation, new business, logistics and ultimately the elevated execution of successful production. He's always exploring his interest in what is next in the digital space, how we'll consume media as a culture and how to offer the best product to his clients and audience.
