MOUNTAIN QUEEN: THE SUMMITS OF LHAKPA SHERPA
The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa, directed by Academy Award nominee Lucy Walker, tells the remarkable story of Lhakpa Sherpa who, as a girl denied an education, concealed her gender to work in the mountains. She became the first Nepali woman to summit Everest before immigrating to the US, where despite being the most decorated female climber of Everest she has raised two children as a single mother working at a Connecticut Whole Foods. Netflix acquired worldwide rights to Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa out of the 2023 Toronto Film Festival.
The film was nominated at the 2025 PGA Awards, has received 2 Sports Emmy nominations including Outstanding Long Documentary and Outstanding Long Camera Work, and has been nominated for Outstanding Documentary at the 2025 Peabody Awards.
