MANIFESTWORKS

2022 - Present

OBB Cares is proud to work with ManifestWorks, a transformative workforce development and job placement organization that provides training in commercial, film, and television production for those impacted by foster care, homelessness, and incarceration.

We hire Production Assistants who are participants or alumni of the ManifestWorks 10-week program on OBB sets, host production training classes at OBB Studios, and participate in mentorship and networking opportunities with program participants.

Group Effort Initiative

2023 - Present

Group Effort Initiative’s mission is to create a pipeline for members of underrepresented communities to get real experience towards lasting careers within the entertainment industry. GEI welcomes participants from various underrepresented communities, including but not limited to people of color, people with disabilities, people who identify as LGBTQ+, people who are low-income, former unhoused and foster youth, and people that were previously incarcerated and are re-entering the workforce.

OBB Cares is grateful to welcome Group Effort Initiative participants in the OBB Media paid summer internship program.

STORYTELLING

THE GAME PLAN

Series | TNT | 2022

Shaq and friends highlight some of Atlanta’s most inspiring entrepreneurs whose small businesses are creating a major impact in their communities. The Game Plan introduces these six businesses and their missions - a lifestyle apparel brand all about embracing your unique identity; an author amplifying Black children as main characters; a math teaching app that engages kids through music; a self-taught abstract painter creating for his community; a hair salon empowering young Black girls; an agribusiness and hot sauce collective employing formerly incarcerated individuals. This six-part docuseries shows just how small local businesses continue to change the world.

Justin Bieber feat. Quavo | Intentions

OBB Pictures and OBB Cares worked with Justin Bieber, SB Projects, and Universal Music to develop and produce Justin Bieber’s official music video INTENTIONS featuring Quavo, in collaboration with the incredible women of Alexandria House.

Alexandria House is a transitional home that provides safe and supportive housing for women and children who have experienced domestic violence, trauma, and homelessness.

In addition to featuring women at Alexandria House in the video, the team established an Intentions Fund at Alexandria House with a $200,000 gift and crowdfunding link, inspiring audiences to support the organization. With help from the Intentions Fund, women at Alexandria House have been able to continue pursuing their college degrees and secure housing and transportation.

For Women’s History Month, OBB partnered with Girl Gang to create a capsule collection benefitting Alexandria House. As a result of the wide scale reach and exposure of the video, Alexandria House has seen an 800% increase in web traffic and more than 200 new incoming donations from around the world.

YOUNG STORYTELLERS

2023

Young Storytellers equips young people to be the driving force of their own narratives. They’re passionate about bringing people together and creating stories to raise the voices of those who don’t often get heard. They believe that when a young person understands the power of their own story—made of their unique background, culture, race, gender, sexuality, immigration status, geographic location, and economic status—it creates a more empathetic and equitable future for everyone.

In partnership with Young Storytellers, OBB Cares hosted youth from the Highland Park Continuation High School Storytellers program at OBB Studios for an interactive day with the OBB Sound team. Students learned about what goes into making a podcast from development through marketing, practiced brainstorming their own podcast ideas, and recorded their very own personal narratives in the podcast studio answering the prompt “what is a time you felt misunderstood?”.
